Yes you’ve read it correctly!!

Andy, Robbie and Jack from our Buying & Sales teams are jumping out of a plane at 13,000 ft to raise money for a young man who has been battling cancer since the age of 17.

In 2018 aged just 17, Max was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer,  particularly in someone so young.  He underwent surgery and chemotherapy.

In 2020 the cancer returned, and the treatment option was another major surgery and intense radio therapy. In December 2022 tumours had again been found in Max’s pelvis and leg.  Unfortunately, given the severity of the previous treatments Max had received, a whole lower limb amputation was the only option.  Sarcoma is a rare cancer that does not receive the same levels of funding as other well-known cancers, consequently there are only a couple of treatments currently offered and research in alternatives is lacking.

Anyone who knows Max knows he is the bravest, most inspirational young person imaginable, who has been through so much at such a young age.  The NHS has been a blessing, but sadly the scope of rehabilitation with the equipment available is very limited.  Max’s recovery is going well but to allow him to regain some independence a lot of adjustment is needed.  Given that he is so young and has always loved being active, we are looking to raise money to fund equipment to help with his mobility and rehab which is not available on the NHS.
