As soon as Andy Ellis heard the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games were happening on his doorstep, he knew he wanted to play a part. Andy, a past Commonwealth Games medal winner in Badminton, was delighted when asked to be involved.
“I was invited to meet and greet people as they entered the hall, have a game with people outside on the concourse and engaged in fan zones, where I was giving interviews and engaging with team England fans.
The days were long starting at 8am and finishing at 10pm but it was so good to see people with a smile on their face, getting behind team England and supporting a home games.
Whilst I do not have time to give back as much as I would like, this is something that is very close to my heart, as badminton gave me such a huge set of morals and instilled a drive in me to wake up every day be the best that I could be in everything I put my name to, which is the case with GBP.
If I can help inspire the next generation into any sport not just badminton then this is brilliant, as I truly believe there is so much to get from being in the sporting world”
Supporting the local community and those participating in sport at all levels is very important to the people at Global Brand Partners and Andy’s involvement in the games was one way of showing this support.
